Lovely atmosphere and staff! I had gel polish removal and regular polish applied (polish change, no manicure) and paid $33 + tip, which i thought was very reasonable. Everyone was very kind and meticulous. I also enjoyed that they didn’t use any acetone or foil in removing gel polish, instead opting for a removing substance that felt a lot more gentle (and less messy). Would definitely come back!

This is literally the only place I will go for manicures. The owner here is just so kind and sweet to me. It's like talking to a long-lost friend. All the nail technicians are very kind and well-mannered, and even the appointment setter/receptionist. They've all been helpful, kind, and patient. Vegan nail polish is also another reason why I go here. They have a variety of options to choose from. You even meet some other nice customers who will talk to you every so often. Love, LOVE it here. 20/10 (definitely recommend!)

Highly recommend! I got the Happy Hour signature mani pedi - it was such a good deal! Callous removal, cuticle car and a short hand and foot massage for only $95 after tax for both. My technician was so gentle and did an amazing job. The overall atmosphere is so relaxing, I almost fell asleep sitting there. Plus they use only gentle, non-toxic products so there are no harsh chemical smells and it protects my nails.

I don't usually leave reviews, but after overpaying for the most basic mani/pedi along with an experience that dampened my birthday, I thought I'd spare the next person.

While the price list is publicly displayed, you simply do not get what you pay for here. I assume the people who frequent this business for nail services must either find the location convenient, or they truly have no idea that the pricing is predatory.

The nail technicians are kind. However, the manager/owner is rude, but masks it with a disingenuous niceness.

I came in with a large group for a bachelorette party and had a wonderful experience. Every one of us enjoyed our visit. The staff were a pleasure to work with and somehow made it seem easy to schedule ten people with different services. CJ did a great job managing our visit on the day of, and the salon was such an oasis in the middle of the lower east side. Seriously relaxing and could not recommend more highly.

I have been visiting Hortus for almost 3 years and ever since my first manicure, I have not visited any other nail salon. I get their signature pedicure and manicures - sometimes gel, sometimes french, shine and buff or other treatment. I am so in awe of the quality of service, attention to detail, and consistency - I'm now spoiled! Their french manicure is epic. It is a wonderfully relaxing experience and provides a sense of community within NYC - with no toxic chemicals or machinery that damages nails. I recommend it to everyone looking for dependably great mani/pedi. I am never anxious that I won't like it! The consistency and dependability is worth a higher price than chain/low-end salons. Once you go, you're hooked for life - and it lasts... 3 weeks for gel manis without fail.

This nail salon is hands down THE BEST in the area. The staff is so incredibly nice, approachable, and friendly. The selection of lacquer, gels, etc is phenomenal and the techs are so good. My girl was Luz and she gave the best hand massage I’ve EVER received! I also love the aesthetic of the salon - it’s gorgeous. This place is my new go to!
